OPA Board of Trustees

Angela Taylor – Secretary

Works for the Parasol Project and Tower Playbase, two inclusive play projects in Oxford.

Anne Bissell
I have been involved in play since setting up and running an after school club at Steeple Aston primary school. I am currently employed as Administrator/Manager for several after school clubs in Oxford as well as a holiday playscheme. I was previously employed as Play Support Officer for Oxfordshire Play Association. I am committed to the importance of play in children’s lives and the provision of safe play environments for children to attend out of school so that parents can go out to work, confident that their children are in a happy and safe environment.

Meryl Smith - Chair

I am the Manager of the Oxfordshire Playing Fields Association and joined the OPA Trustee Board in 1992, following the OPA’s 'revival' which was facilitated by the OPFA and other key play partners in recognition of the need for a county focus for play. I am a member of the Trustees as I recognise play and support for play organisations within the county as a key component of promoting sustainable, vibrant and supportive communities in which people of all ages are able to live fulfilling lives.

Hilary Walbank - Treasurer
I joined OPA in 1993 when Bicester & District Play Association was still supporting play in my local area.
I have been involved in play for many years, especially playschemes. Part of my role as an OPA Trustee is to monitor the Training Department and my experience as a Children’s and Adult Teacher has benefitted me with this.

Councillor Mrs Anda Fitzgerald-O'Connor
I have been a County Councillor since 1997, representing Shrivenham Division which is very rural, and I am therefore very aware of rural problems. I am married & have 3 adult sons (although they are not grown up!) I am a volunteer for RDA (Riding for Disabled). I originally became involved with OPA as I was one of the County Council observers on the trustees board and became very interested in the aims and work of OPA and subsequently joined the board.
