I have been caring for and playing with children, including my own son who is now 18 years old, for most of my working life! I completed my NNEB in 1977 and my previous jobs have included nanny, maternity nurse, pre-school assistant, and even cook’s assistant(!) in a primary school. I have also run a crèche in a sports centre. I have been employed by OPA in a variety of roles since completing my Level 3 Award in Playwork during which time I have also helped out with emergency cover for a number of after school clubs.
Jenny Gallucci - Assessor and Internal Verifier
I have been an NVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier for nearly fifteen years, working with a variety of training providers for the assessment of NVQs in Playwork, Childcare & Education, Health & Social Care and the A/V Awards. My first passion remains play and playwork and I have been an external verifier and external examiner for CACHE for Playwork qualifications for almost ten years. I now work freelance as a playwork consultant and trainer and love working for OPA, an organisation that is also passionate about play.
Elaine Johnson - Assessor and Internal Verifier
I am a northerner by birth, having moved south some 25 years ago. I have 4 children and 6 grandchildren (all girls!). I have worked in childcare for almost 20 years, caring for children and young people aged 4 - 16. I managed a playscheme for 9 years so am 'hands-on' assessor. I now work in another holiday playscheme, therefore continuing to work/play with children. I enjoy assessing as I like to see candidates grow in knowledge and confidence.
Brid Muldoon - OPA Training Officer, Assessor and Internal Verifier

Carol Richards – Assessor and Playwork Tutor
I am an Assessor in Playwork for OPA. I am a wife and a mother of a teenage boy. I completed my NNEB course, and then in 1995 I was employed by the Blackbird Leys Community Development Initiative as their Under Eight's Centre based Development Worker. I then became employed by the Dovecote Voluntary Parent Committee, made up of local parents living on the Leys. We have been providing out of school play facilities in Blackbird Leys since April 1996. I also work closely with a variety of statutory organisations, charities and voluntary organisations to raise awareness of the needs of children and families living in Blackbird Leys.
Naomi Whale - Assessor
Hi, my name is Naomi and I have been an A1 assessor for a few years. At OPA I will help you achieve your level 2 or 3 NVQ in Playwork. I have also taught many different courses; these include playwork level 2 and 3, early years level 2 and 3 and event management in playwork level 4. I have previously worked in 3 different ASC (in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire) setting up 2 of these and running them as a playworker, so I am very aware of how an ASC runs. Also for the last 11 years I've been a registered childminder.
