As a father of 3 young boys I fully understand the importance of play and, linking this into my previous 20 years of business and commercial experience, my aim is to enhance the 'business' side of OPA whilst ensuring that every child & young person within Oxfordshire can experience free play opportunities - which is their right.
When children and young people are playing they are happy and confident, and happy, confident children help to create healthier and happier communities - so play is more than just messing around! I have worked with children and related services for over 20 years - as teacher, after school club and playscheme supervisor, playwork trainer, development worker, and as author of books on play, playwork and children’s activities.
I am OPA's Finance Officer and I take care of all OPA's finances. I also manage the payroll service, which offers low-cost management of your organisation's wages. I can answer your payroll queries. I joined OPA because I enjoy seeing children and young people having play opportunities, to create the same playful memories that I have of my childhood.
Hello, I am OPA's Training Officer. I am an QCF Assessor and an Internal Quality Assurer and I also run training sessions and courses on all aspects of play and related subjects. I have been involved with out of school services since 2004, as after school club Manager, and as Coordinator of 17 clubs on behalf of a children's charity. Call me for information about anything to do with play and playwork training.
I was formerly OPA's Outreach Play Officer, and am now a full-time mum. I love working for OPA because I believe that OPA has the expertise and resources to assist Oxfordshire's playleaders and playworkers to provide quality play opportunities for the children they come into contact with. I have experience of children's work in the voluntary sector and currently run a club in Abingdon for children aged 7-11 years old.
