Organising a Street Party is very easy to do, and has many benefits - for adults, children, teenagers - in fact for everyone in the local community. It brings people together, introduces neighbours to others they never knew, strengthens friendships and provides a great opportunity for all ages to have fun and play.
Oxfordshire Play Association can help by providing ideas to increase the playfulness of your street party - just contact us on 01865 779474 or email jane.gallagher@oxonplay.org.uk for more information or to have a chat.
There are other organisations which can provide a wealth of useful information to guide you through the steps of organising a street party - here are some links to get you started.
In addition, contact your local district council to find out their rules for having a street party in your area - Oxford city, Cherwell, Vale of the White Horse, South Oxfordshire and West Oxfordshire.
A fantastic project from Bristol which closes streets to traffic after school to promote and encourage a return to street play through safe, direct action. It is run by neighbours, for neighbours.
